El Centro to Salton Sea

Feb.10th--Leaving El Centro it was easy to see why Ernie and Signy enjoyed coming here . The countryside is much like Yuma with lush farmland, warm climate very similar to parts of the southern Okanagan in Canada.

The Salton Sea is a landlocked salt water Lake that is located right on top of the San Andreas fault. The Lake is 226 feet below sea level..

This area was very popular in the fifties and sixties around the time that Route 66 was being traveled. There is a park on the lake but for the most part the area remains undeveloped.
