Winter in South Texas

The weather in Texas this year has been,to say the least, extreme and unusual with temperature swings of up to forty to fifty degrees F. from day to day. During our three weeks here we have had Freezing temperatures with lows of 24 degrees F. that broke records that went back twenty-five years. Every week or so we unhook the motor home and head to Kingsville some twenty miles away to stock up on groceries and water. The water here is very heavy with minerals and salt making it-at least to our taste- unpleasant to drink.

Tuesday night is covered dish night. Everybody brings one dish of Salad, Meat, Soup or Desert and we all enjoy a great buffet.P1000190

Although we have enjoyed our time here that gave us a chance to clean our carpets, organize and inventory our cargo bays etc., we will be ready to put the jacks up and get this puppy on the road again--these wheels are round for a reason. There is something about not knowing where we will spend the night that we find both exciting and appealing.
